ON THE CONTRAY TO THIS,"REQUIRES LARGE PRODUCTION RUNS TO BE EFFICIENT, TOOLING COST CONSIDERABLY HIGHER THAN OTHER METHODS, NOT ALL COMPOUNDS,OR DUROMETERS ARE SUITABLE FOR THIS PROCESS." ARE ITS DISADVANTAGES.

RUBBER TRANSFER MOLDINGS
TRANSFER MOULDING IS AN EXTENSION OF COMPRESSION MOULDING,BUT UTILIZING METHODS SIMILAR TO INJECTION MOULDING. IT IS UTILIZED IN APPLICATIONS INVOLVING HIGHER PRODUCTION QUANTITIES THAN WOULD BE NORMAL FOR COMPRESSION MOULDING. THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMPRESSION AND TRANSFER IS THAT THE UNCURED RUBBER IS PLACED IN A POT COMBINATION BUILT INTO THE TOP OF THE MOULD, AND UTILIZING THE CLOSURE OF THE MOULDING PRESS TO FORCE THE UNCURED RUBBER THROUGH SMALL HOLES INTO THE CAVITY. ADVANTAGES TO COMPRESSION TYPE ARE THAT, - SHORTER PRODUCTION CYCLE ,COMPOUND PREPARARTION AND TOOL LOADING TIME IS REDUCED,PRODUCT FINISHING TIME IS REDUCED AND TRANSFER CAN BE RUN IN A CONVENTIONAL COMPRESSION TYPE MOULDING PRESS WITHOUT SPECIAL EQUIPMENT. DISADVANTAGES ARE MORE EXPENSIVE MOULDING,MORE MATERIAL WASTE DUE TO EXCESS LEFT IN THE "POT" AND RUNNER SYSTEM.

RUBBER COMPRESSION MOLDINGS
COMPRESSION MOULDING IS THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL METHOD FOR MOULDING. IT IS IMPLEMENTED BY PLACING A PIECE OF UNCURED RUBBER OF A PREDETERMINED WEIGHT AND SIZE,INTO THE CAVITIES OF AN OPEN MOULD. ADVANTAGES ARE INEXPENSIVE TOOLING,LESS COMPOUND WASTE,GOOD CHOICE FOR LAGRE PARTS,GOOD FOR LOW PRODUCTION QUANTITIES. AND DISADVANTAGES ARE LONGER LOADING AND PROCESS TIME,LABOR INTENSIVE FINSHING,HEAVIER FLASH IN POSSIBLE QUALITY.
